If professional skater Tyshawn Jones’ statements are to be accepted, fans of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater franchise may soon get what they’ve been waiting for for years. Fans wonder as to what prior release Jones is re-releasing after he reveals he’s featured in a “new one they’re remastering” on the Breakfast Club podcast.
Over the past ten years, the popularity of the Tony Hawk Pro Skater series has fluctuated. Tony Hawk Pro Skater 5, the final consecutive entry in the series, was widely criticized when it was first released. Players complained about errors, poor physics, and antiquated features, and it was later revealed that production was hurried to produce a game before developer Activision’s intellectual property license expired. The series triumphantly returned in 2020 with Tony Hawk Pro Skater 1 + 2, which had several quality-of-life enhancements, after being inactive for five years. The franchise appears to be returning for more after another five years.
After appearing in the last Tony Hawk Pro Skater remaster, skater Tyshawn Jones recently revealed on Breakfast Club Power 105.1 FM that he will be a playable character in the next one. Last year was the 25th anniversary of the franchise, and Tony Hawk himself marked the occasion by teasing a brand-new Tony Hawk Pro Skater game. Fans will have to wait until further information becomes available, even if it’s unclear if the tease is indeed the same remastered edition of a game that Tyshawn Jones stated or even a brand-new game.
A new Tony Hawk Remaster Confirmed

Although it’s unclear exactly what fans might expect from the Tony Hawk Pro Skater brand, it appears that a remaster of one or more earlier titles is in the works. However, it’s still unclear which one is being restored. A significant section of the fan base seems to be hoping for the PS2-favorite Tony Hawk’s Underground and its follow-up, which included the ground-breaking ability to get off the skateboard in addition to a more narratively focused single-player option.
Tony Hawk Pro Skater now getting remastered
“I’m in a Tony Hawk [that’s] coming out, so that’s cool,” he says. “They’ve got a new one they’re remastering.”
It would make sense to continue from the previous two, but this doesn’t tell us which one is being restored. Additionally, enough time has passed since the release of that remaster for a new one to be planned and attract skaters.
We are aware that something is going on with the Tony Hawk series, nevertheless. Tony Hawk himself made a statement about this back in September of last year. He commented on the series’ 25th anniversary: “I’m not supposed to tease anything else about the future of the series, but there will be a future.” In light of Jones’ remarks, that future may now involve a return to the franchise’s history.
