Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hardcore mode access now available, but there’s a catch

It may surprise you to learn that some individuals would want Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 to be even more difficult than it is today. There are folks out there who don’t find the game as difficult as they would want, especially in the latter levels, but I’m here getting fed dirt by every bandit I encounter.

Fortunately, developer Warhorse Studios is already planning to release a Hardcore Mode sometime next month, which will provide players a lengthy list of undesirable characteristics to pick from and less guidance when it comes to exploring the Kingdom of Bohemia. You’ll need to ask for directions and even utilize the stars to locate your way instead of your map and compass.

It seems to shake up the game very nicely for those who have previously seen and done everything, at the very least. Warhorse has chosen to pencil in a mid-April delivery frame rather than announce the actual date of Hardcore Mode’s debut, although it appears that some tech-savvy fans have already been able to access it.

Kingdom Come Deliverance 2 Hardcore mode

Initially spotted by Reddit user Aall137906, Hardcore Mode seems to be completely playable and already present in the game’s files. Unfortunately, to enable Hardcore Mode to display, you’ll need to fiddle with console instructions, so you’ll need to do some work on your end.

Another important note is that, according to another Reddit user named InertSpark, they haven’t been allowed to ask any NPCs for guidance yet, thus it doesn’t seem like this Hardcore Mode build is finished. When it formally releases at some point next month, it will most likely be included as one of the primary ways you may understand where you are in the mode.

Just be warned that you won’t receive the desired experience if you use this console command trickery to enter Hardcore Mode. However, if you’re among those who wish the game was a bit more difficult, it should serve as a pleasant little sample for what’s to come.
